Character Name: Anthony J. Crowley
Canon: Good Omens
Canon Point: Series End
In-Game Tattoo Placement: His tattoo is located on his left cheek, just before his ear, under his sideburn, mirroring his snake tattoo on the right side.
Current Health/Status: Healthy
Age: 6000-ish
Species: Demon (Fallen Angel/Garden of Eden's Snake)
History: Crowley's Wikia
Personality: Anthony J. Crowley (originally known as Crawley) is a bit of a complicated specimen of a demon. He's a bit of a failure at being a demon and he knows it. Embraces it, really. He has learned that Human kind can be far, far worse than demons and can come up with much more horrible things than any demon in Hell. He uses this to his advantage and takes credit for the awful things the Human race comes up with, reporting it back to the Dark Council as his own doing. He doesn't take any enjoyment in killing so he just doesn't, which seems to be out of character for a demon. It's said he didn't so much fall as saunter vaguely downwards. He admits that he just hung out with the wrong crowd and asked questions. In the old days, that was all it took to be a demon.
For a demon, Crowley is very relaxed and takes pleasure in just experiencing the world and all it has to offer. He rather enjoys Earth and has grown very attached to his life there. So much so that he risked everything with Aziraphale to derail the apocalypse that was supposedly written to happen. But despite being so chill, he still manages to strut around like he owns the world.
Likewise, he can be a bit extreme in his actions. Unlike other demons, he's strongly emotional and can easily lose himself to those emotions. When he first learns he lost the Antichrist and the Apocalypse was on their heels, he panicked. He went off on a tangent at Aziraphale, insisting they run away together and get off the planet. Go somewhere else and just avoid the whole thing. He storms off when the angel faces him with the reality of the matter, angrily. When he heads to the book shop and finds it in flames, he has a breakdown at his best friend's discorporation. He proceeds to practically cry at Aziraphale about Aziraphale when he projected himself from Heaven to find a body about losing his best friend. He also murders his plants when they aren't perfect. That sorta fits in the extreme category, I believe.
He acts on a whim and does whatever he wants whenever he wants, consequences be damned. He's learned that Hell doesn't actually check to see what he's doing, so he formed an alliance with the angel on Earth, Aziraphale. They don't get in eachother's way and if the other needs something, they help out. Before this alliance, they kept cancelling eachother out wherever they went, so it was as if they hadn't been there at all. But Crowley found that, despite it all, he still managed to come to Aziraphale's aid when the angel was in danger. Even if it would make things easier for him as an agent of Hell on Earth, he still didn't let the angel get himself discorporated.
Crowley found that Humans were far worse than demons for one reason; they had an imagination. It allowed them to come up with creative ways to torture and kill one another. Beyond anything any demon could dream up. He used this to his advantage and often took credit for the awful things humans came up with on their own so it looked as if he was actually doing work on Earth when in reality, he was just enjoying life. He is the one and only demon that actually has an imagination, likely due to his time spent among humans. It's become a sort of power when coupled with his ability to preform miracles and lack of being bound by physics. He willed himself and the Bentley to survive the trip through the ring of fire on the M25 when the unique fire discorporated Hastur fairly quickly.
He's quite contradictory in many things he says and does. He'll help someone, save someone's life, or just ensure any trouble he's causing doesn't get anyone killed and yet if he's caught, he'll insist he's not soft hearted. Crowley openly objected to God killing children when they were watching Noah file critters away into the ark. He commented that it sounded more like something his kind would do. And later tells Aziraphale that he doesn't kill kids. Which is funny, because he doesn't kill anyone. When Ligur asked if he'd killed anyone, he said he hadn't but that there was more to evil than just killing everyone.
Crowley's a bit cynical with a dark sense of humour. He replaced all of the office workers' guns with real weapons and when pressed by Aziraphale, he admitted that no one was getting hurt. He also argued that it was something they wanted, so he just helped them out. He's also very quick to see things go south. He plans for it. Crowley had been planning to get caught by Hell for working with Aziraphale for a couple hundred years. It didn't stop him, but he did try to get his hands on Holy Water to protect himself. It just so happened that it would also destroy him, too, and his only source wouldn't give him a 'suicide pill'. At least, not right away.
Crowley's cunning. He's observant and intelligent with a somewhat tactical mind that lets him plan things out, even if it seems like he's not even paying much attention. He's also quick to come up with a plan on the spot, so it's not always premeditated.
He seriously loves Earth and enjoys all the humans that live there with him and most everything they make. He's somewhat vain in his appearance, always trying to dress sharply and loves to indulge. He owns a very nice London flat, decorated somewhat expensively.
He's more likely to cover his own hide and get out of dodge before things go south, giving him a somewhat air of cowardice in a sense, except in one very specific circumstance. That circumstance is Aziraphale. If the angel is in danger or otherwise troubled, Crowley will risk his own existence just to keep the angel safe. This can be viewed as heroic or brave. He'd argue it's just acts of a selfish demon rather than selflessness, but even Aziraphale, who argued that he was a demon and that they had nothing in common, relented that he had good in him. It does take just over 6000 years for him to finally relent and not argue.
Abilities/Powers/Weaknesses & Warping: In his canon, when Crowley dies, it is merely the body that dies and he is sent back to hell. This process is called discorporating. He would then have to wait for a new body before he could return to Earth. Demons can possess humans, but that's not his style. However, there is one very specific thing that would cause him "extinction" as it's called. A permanent death. This leads me to weaknesses,
Weaknesses:
↜ Holy Water: Like dropping a lump of sodium in water. Like that, only nastier. Flaring and sputtering and pealing and oily brown smoke, leaving a burnt spot on the floor. Would normally be a permanent death/extinction for the demon.
↜ Consecrated Ground: Causes the demon's feet discomfort when he walks on it. Similar to walking on scorching sand barefoot.
↜ Blessed Items/Weapons: Can't heal wounds left by these himself.
↜ Cold: He doesn't particularly like the cold and is less resistant to it, being a snake.
↜ Satan: Can bring him to his knees (in pain?).
↜ Aziraphale: He's stupid for his best friend. That counts, right?
Powers:
↜ Miracles: Angels and Demons can create miracles that bring things into existence or remove things from existence.
⛔ Nerf: His miracles tend to go askew in Deerington more often than work successfully. Example: He attempts to miracle a bottle of wine into being. Instead, he'll end up with vinegar in a wine bottle. Or, he tries to miracle-fix his clothing and it will disintegrate instead. I mean, it's technically not stained anymore. Will have no effect over the will of Deerington or changing events. Maybe possible to unlock more control?
↜ Healing: Crowley can instantly wish away injuries to a person and their attire, as well as for himself.
⛔ Healing Nerf: Trying to recover himself will bounce the wound to someone nearby. First time he sees that, he'll not heal himself again. Healing others will inflict the wound on himself.
↜ Wings: Scorched black angel wings allow him flight. He prefers to drive. Go figure.
⛔ Nerf: Can't fly out of Deerington, obviously. Rather than just a net, trying renders him unconscious.
↜ Suggestion: Has the ability to read what people want, their dark or hidden desires, and can plant suggestions to steer them in certain directions. They still have their free will, it's just a suggestion, after all. (Obviously permission based OOCly.)
↜ Imagination: Something most demons don't have. It allows him to will things to be the way he wants them to as long as he's thinking about them.
⛔ Nerf: Doesn't always seem to work in Deerington. When it does, it will take all his focus and energy. (Probably only useful in protecting his Bentley, honestly.) He'll have no effect over the will of Deerington or changing events. Likewise, will not be able to effect any other players or NPCs in Deerington.
↜ Body Swap: Can body swap with other Angels/Demons. Requires direct contact and effort from both parties.
⛔ Nerf: Probably won't even come into play unless we get an Aziraphale. In that case, maybe an unlockable 'perk' with bonus points? Currently doesn't work.
↜ Possession: It's said demons can possess humans. He prefers not to.
⛔ Nerf: Can't use this power in Deer.
↜ Shapeshifting: Crowley is able to shapeshift either full body or just partial shifts.
⛔ Nerf: Fully-body shifts will exhaust him and leave him stuck in that form until he recovers from the exhaustion.
↜ Not Bound By Physics: Can change size, travel through the universe on a subatomic level, defy physics, yadda yadda yadda.
⛔ Nerf: Can't do any of the like in Deerington at all. Maybe some bits can be unlockable?
↜ Time Control: Crowley can temporarily stop time with a sizeable effort.
⛔ Nerf: Yeah, he can't do that anymore. At least not in Deerington. Attempting to will give him a long lasting splitting headache and drain him.
↜ Telekinesis: He's able to suspend items in the air, move them around, unlock doors, open doors, move things, etc.
⛔ Nerf: Obviously, anything Deerington doesn't want him into, he can't get past or move. Will spectacularly fail at the most inopportune times.
↜ Night Vision: As a demon, Crowley sees clear as day at night. The sunglasses don't just make him look cool or hide his yellow eyes.
↜ About Death: Crowley is more resilient than a human, but he isn't invincible. Piercing of the brain or heart will result in pretty immediate death. Anything that would get him discorporated in his canon, will kill him in Deerington. More resistant to fire than even other demons in his canon, if Hastur proves anything. Crowley doesn't have to breathe, so suffocation isn't an issue for him. Wounds from Holy or Blessed weapons will eventually kill him as will Holy Water (sooner rather than later).
Inventory:
1) One 1926 black Bentley
↜ Glovebox full of additional pairs of sunglasses.
↜ One first edition, sole surviving copy of, "The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch" written in 1655. Slightly burnt. Completely useless here. In the back seat.
2) One green plastic plant mister.
↜ Includes water. (Not Holy)
3) One pair of sunglasses
4) Another pair of identical sunglasses
5) Yet another pair of identical sunglasses WHY are there so many sunglasses?
6) Main outfit with--you guessed it--another pair of identical sunglasses
